Hello, I’m Alex
I’m an undergraduate MEng (Hons) in Medical Engineering student at Cardiff University, with a background in neuroscience, interested in neuromorphic engineering, computational and theoretical neuroscience, as well as interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the brain and engineering.

Hodgkin-Huxley Model
Biophysically grounded 4-ODE simulation of giant squid axon action potentials, ion channel kinetics (Na⁺, K⁺), and refractory dynamics.
Izhikevich Neuron Model
Computationally efficient 2D dynamical system reproducing rich biological cortical firing patterns (regular spiking, bursting, chattering).
Leaky Integrate-and-Fire
Subthreshold RC circuit membrane potential integration with deterministic threshold-reset mechanics, bridging biology and neuromorphic computing.
🧠 Research Interests
- Neuromorphic Engineering - How we can apply principles of neuroscience to engineering to create more efficient and effective computational systems.
- Computational Neuroscience - How sensory information is processed and represented in the brain, how it influences decision making and behaviour, and how this can be modelled computationally.
- Theoretical Neuroscience - The theoretical underpinnings of neural computation, and how this can be used to understand brain function.
- Interdisciplinary Approaches - How neuroscience can be combined with other fields, such as computer science, physics, and mathematics, to understand the brain.
